Katherine L. Vaughn
Katherine Vaughn’s practice includes transportation, hospitality, and catastrophic personal injury claims in state and federal courts. She also has experience with UM/UIM claims, first-party insurance bad faith litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and other insurance litigation. Her transportation practice includes the defense of both national railroads and motor carriers and insurers in the trucking industry. Katherine represents national railroads facing Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims, grade crossing accidents, OSHA investigations, whistleblower complaints, Department of Labor appeals, and various applications before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. Katherine represents motor carriers and trucking industry insurers against personal injury claims arising out of single and multiple vehicle accidents. She has defended trucking companies in catastrophic injury, brain injury, spine injury, and wrongful death cases. Katherine is a member of the firm’s 24/7 rapid response team, and regularly responds to accident scenes and works with experts in the fields of human factors, biodynamics, and accident reconstruction. Beyond her transportation practice, Katherine defends business owners, premises owners, and their insurers against a wide array of personal injury claims.
In addition to her jury trial experience, Katherine represents clients in arbitration, mediation, and pretrial settlement conferences. She has successfully briefed and argued numerous dispositive motions in state and federal court.
