Earlier this week, Colin Finnegan presented to the United States Department of State, Bureau of Cultural Affairs’ Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP). The PYLP is a leadership development exchange that typically brings Philippine secondary students and adult mentors, ages 15-35, to the United States for a month-long program. Due to COVID, the program was virtual this year and focused on responsible citizenship, civic leadership, community development, and project management.
Colin’s presentation, “Panel on Peacebuilding in Other Lands – Public Service,” discussed public speaking, advocacy, government, and lawyering. Colin enjoyed the chance to speak to future leaders from the Philippines and hopes that he inspired them all to be future lawyers.
Colin is fluent in Filipino Tagalog, minored in Southeast Asian Studies at Northern Illinois University, and has become an advocate for the Southeast Asian community.
