Jack Peters will be participating as a panelist in a Boulder, Colorado virtual community forum on Monday, September 28th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM MDT. The forum will discuss current policies of the Boulder Police Department and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Enhance Law Enforcement Act recently passed through the Colorado Legislature. Jack will be presenting an overview of the law concerning civil claims and criminal charges against law enforcement officers, including how qualified immunity is applied, the standard for proving excessive force claims, and how prosecutors make charging decisions. Jack will also address how the Enhance Law Enforcement Act changes Colorado law and the impact of those changes on policing and law enforcement officers. Other panelists will include the City of Boulder’s Chief of Police, the Boulder County Sheriff, and the Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives.
