Lance G. Eberhart and Jill M. Gerdrum attended the ALFA International Transportation Seminar in Fajardo, Puerto Rico this week.  The three-day seminar held at the El Conquistador Resort focused on the complex and rapidly changing risks faced by the transportation industry in 2026.

Lance Eberhart serves as ALFA International’s Transportation Practice Group Chair and provided opening remarks for the seminar.

Jill Gerdrum moderated a panel with industry leaders titled, “Rough Seas or Caribbean Breeze: The Status of Broker Liability and FAAAA Preemption in the Wake of Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II.”  The U.S. Supreme Court will resolve the Circuit Court split on federal preemption of tort claims against freight brokers this year and Jill’s panel discussed the process of getting the issue before the U.S. Supreme Court and how a decision (good or bad) may impact the transportation industry.

Over 75 transportation industry clients and attorneys from 40 states gathered at the El Conquistador Resort.
