Mark S. Ratner

Special Counsel

Mark handles all aspects of commercial litigation including complex business, employment, real estate, errors and omissions, bankruptcy, insurance coverage and bad faith, general tort and contract issues as well as providing representation for individuals and employers in administrative hearings.

Mark has been lead Counsel for Colorado and Illinois real estate appraisers for administrative matters with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies/ Board of Real Estate Appraisers, and the Office of Banks and Real Estate (Illinois), for representation involving violations of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. He has also represented Fortune 100 and 500 companies, and public entities in administrative and investigatory matters with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (Illinois and Colorado), the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Colorado Civil Rights Division, and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Representation in front of these government agencies has been for charges of age, race, and disability discrimination, allegations involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and claims of work place harassment and hostile work environment.

His broad base of experience also includes representation of corporations in toxic tort exposure matters (asbestos, petrochemical, and lead paint), homeowner associations under the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act, and automobile manufacturers in litigation and arbitration proceedings, for claims made under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and the Illinois Uniform Commercial Code.
