Kendra Garstka, Andrew Ringel, and Doug Kotarek attended the 2026 ALFA International Workers’ Compensation Practice Group Seminar last week at the Flying Horse Resort & Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The three-day seminar covered topics including global settlements, multijurisdictional claims, and catastrophic claim management.
Kendra served as the seminar’s Course Book Editor and Co-Compendia Editor and spoke on “Hot Topics in Workers’ Compensation: Emerging Trends, Legal Developments, and Practical Strategies,” covering recent developments, emerging issues, and practical considerations for handling claims efficiently.
Andrew joined the panel “Art of the Global Settlement,” which detailed strategies for reaching settlements that resolve workers’ compensation and related claims.
Doug moderated “Riding the Multi State Range: Navigating WC Claims Across Jurisdictions in the Wild West and Beyond,” addressing strategies for managing claims that cross state lines and involve conflicting jurisdictional rules.
