Environmental, Natural Resources & Toxic Tort Law

We maintain a wide ranging practice of environmental, toxic tort and natural resources law, focusing on compliance and enforcement issues, permitting, contaminated property transactions, environmental and toxic tort litigation, and insurance regarding environmental matters.  This multi-disciplinary approach provides business, legal, legislative, and strategic counseling to a wide range of clients in the electric, natural gas, mining, railroad, pipeline, manufacturing, chemical, technology, real estate, and development industries.  These technically complex areas of the law can be efficiently and successfully handled on a cost-effective basis in close coordination and with active participation by the client.

We represent clients in matters involving the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), toxic tort, and energy projects that involve complex permitting and regulatory requirements.  Our experience also includes state and federal enforcement actions, costly clean-ups, remediation actions, cost recovery actions, health and safety citation proceedings, and virtually all aspects of gas, mining, electric, water, railroad, and telecommunication regulation.  Our attorneys have also represented clients in administrative actions related to many of major federal regulatory regimes, including the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA/Superfund), the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), the Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act (NGPSA), and many of the state and local derivations of these laws.
